Roo tons up in big win

December 4th, 2011

Andrew ‘Roo’ Hocking has belted his maiden century for the Deeners in a comprehensive victory over Burwood Uniting Canterbury at Lynden Park Upper. The Deeners posted a healthy 5/288 from their allotted 40 overs with Michael Leeds (77) and Shaun Lorenzini (57) providing great support to the Rampaging Roo. In reply, BUC could only manage 138, with Pat ‘Strings’ Gregory snaring 3/41, Al ‘The Wizard’ Wyatt 3/8 and James ‘Remember My Hat Trick’ Rogers 2/17.

After the match, Roo was typically modest, saying, “My goal is to be the greatest Hocking ever, and I think I’ve taken a step in the right direction today. After reaching my hundred, my main goal was to better my cousin Mark’s personal score of 110, which I managed to do. Once I reached that goal,  I wasn’t much interested in hanging around.”  Roo was out for 111.

It is believed that, on hearing of Roo’s feat, Mark immediately booked tickets back to Australia from his ice cave in Scandinavia and will arrive back in time to challenge Roo in his goal later in the season.

Congratulations Roo!

End of Season Trip details announced

November 13th, 2011
DUCCCTOC is pleased to announce the following details for 2012 cricket trip HAVE BEEN CONFIRMED:
Where: Byron Bay
When: Easter Weekend (Thurs 5th April - Mon 9th April)
DUCCCTOC strongly recommends the below flights:
5th April
Depart Tullamarine 9.45am – Arrive Gold Coast 11.45am (direct flight) – $139
9th April
Depart Gold Coast 3.25pm – Arrive Tullamarine 5.45pm (direct flight) – $159

Gold Coast has cheaper and more direct flights than Ballina, and is only 30 minutes further away (60 mins). There are cheap regular shuttle buses operating between GC and BB. There are similarly-priced flights either side of these ones, but it would be great if we all booked the same ones so we can travel there and back together. DUCCCTOC also strongly recommends booking flights ASAP while they’re still cheap!

IMPORTANT: If you haven’t confirmed your attendance please email/speak to me ASAP so I can get a gauge on numbers and begin the hunt for a Deener-house!

These sessions are vitally important to the way that we start our season so I look forward to seeing large numbers. All the practice we can get before round 1 is like money in the bank ready to be spent during the season.
It would be great if everyone could arrive at least 15 minutes before each session. If you are going to attend a session but are running late please let me know by contacting me on 0414 276 424. This is important in the structuring of training.
If for some reason these dates and times do not meet your busy schedules I am happy to discuss and or assist you in an individual program to get you up and running for the season, just call me.

I look forward to seeing people next weekend at the season launch and at training the following Sunday.

Lora
