The Under 16s got off to a slow start after the Christmas break and still seemed to be in school holiday mode. The Deeners played a one day match against Ashburton Willows.

After five rounds the under 16 team is undefeated having played three one day games and a couple of two day games. Our latest result was a 22 run victory over Deepdene Bears at Leigh Park. Having won the toss, Uniting batted first and after the last ball was bowled in fading light the board [...]

Perhaps after three easy victories and winning the toss for the fourth consecutive time the players were too comfortable because at the close of Uniting’s innings the score was all out for 104 from 31 overs, a modest score even though we had only ten players. In our second week in B grade we had an even more convincing win, this time over the Deepdene Bears. Played in terrible conditions at Hays Paddock – the vicious north wind was full of dust and grit – the final score was Deepdene Uniting 5 for 181 defeated the Deepdene Bears all out for [...]

After our convincing win over Clifton Hill in C grade, the team was promoted to B grade where we enjoyed an even more comfortable win over Box Hill.
