The Deepdene Uniting Cricket Club Committee for 2017/18 - Roles and Responsibilities


President  - Michael Leeds

  • Responsible for the management of the Senior and Junior Sections of the Cricket Club;
  • Coordinates the work of the Committee;
  • Official spokesperson of Deepdene Uniting Cricket Club;
  • Responsible for chairing Committee meetings;
  • Oversees compliance with legal requirements and the funding criteria in conjunction with the Grants officer;
  • Liaises with Players, Parents, Coaches, Committee Members, Sub-Committee Members, and the Financial Administrator on an as-needs basis;
  • Required to attend Committee meetings.


       Secretary - Pat Gregory

  • Prepares and distributes notices/agendas for meetings;
  • Records and circulates minutes of meetings; 
  • Maintains the Committee contact list and list of members (in conjunction with MY CRICKET/admin officer);
  • Ensure relevant insurances and ground allocations are up to date and meeting requirements of the club
  • Required to attend Committee meetings.
    Treasurer - Alister Wilkie
  • Manages the financial affairs of DUCC;
  • Presents and explains financial reports to the Committee, and the annual financial report to the members at the AGM;
  • Responsible for the collection and banking of DUCC subs, grant allocations and sponsorships;
  • Approves expenditure;
  • Prepares a budget in consultation with the Committee and manages the budget as required;
  • Managing income and expenses including issuing invoices and receipts; banking; payroll; payment of suppliers; payment of coaches; payment of players (International) management of petty cash etc.
  • Required to attend Committee meetings.  

    Junior Co-ordinator - Yogesh Sharma
  • Represents the junior sub-committee (if in operation) at committee level;
  • Liaises Junior committee and Member Protection Officer in case an issue arises;
  • Welcomes new junior players and their families;
  • Handles enrolment enquiries throughout the year;
  • Prepares and distributes Information Kits for new players and their families;
  • Assists the planning of training sessions and integration of the international player as coach;
  • Assists to organise the annual Open Day and other opportunities to visit the club;
  • Prepares and distributes enrolment and contact lists to players families, and updates as required.
  • Required to attend Committee meetings.

    Member Protection Officer
  • Acts as the Committee contact point for staff with any issues, queries, or problems for senior and junior players and their families;
  • Reports any matter of concern to the committee, the President, and if required, the police;
  • Develops member protection policy and action plan in conjunction with the President;
  • Liaises with the Maintenance Officer in relation to compliance with Occupational Health and Safety issues that are brought to his attention
  • Assist Junior co-ordinator in welcoming new players and their families – and educating them on our Member Protection Policy;
  • Required to attend Committee meetings.

    Maintenance Co-ordinator - Chris Menz
  • Responsible for managing and co-ordinating the maintenance and up-keep of Hays Paddock, Willsmere;
  • Organises working bees to clean the clubrooms (in conjunction with the Treasurer);
  • Liaises with the contact for the Council and the ECA when required on matters of upkeep;
  • Periodically conducts inspection reports and organizes any repairs and maintenance required;
  • In conjunction with the Staff Liaison and the Committee, ensures that Occupational Health and Safety requirements and other regulatory requirements are met; 
  • Maintenance Co-ordinator NOT required to attend Committee meetings.

    Social Representative / Social Sub-Committee - 
  • Co-ordinates social functions and activities throughout the year (in particular assists in organising a welcome function, Christmas Party, Major Fundraiser, and end of season function);
  • At least 3 people are required on the Social Sub-Committee
  • Social Representative required to attend Committee meetings.
    Grants Officer 
  • Responsible for sourcing opportunities to raise funds externally for specific needs or improvements as identified and endorsed by the Committee;
  • Writes applications and submissions for relevant and appropriate grants on behalf of the Committee;
  • Provides support and assistance to the Treasurer in assessing, analysing and complying with funding requirements;
  • Required to attend Committee meetings

    MY CRICKET/Communication Manager - Harry Riddle
  • Maintains and updates DUCC web site;
  • Assists new Committee Members set up their DUCC e-mail accounts;
  • Ensures MY CRICKET records are up to date (with assistance from Secretary and Junior Co-Ordinator);
  • Manages Social Media communication internally and externally
  • Assists with other IT-related tasks requested by the Committee;
  • Communication manager is required to attend Committee meetings 

    Bar Manager
  • Purchase of food and beverage for Hays Paddock and Willsmere in consultation with the treasurer
  • Organise Roster for Thursday night Dinners
  • Organise Roster for Bar Duties on a Thursday and Saturday night (including education on responsibilities of ensuring till and float are kept in safe)
  • Co-ordinate staffing for club functions held at Hays Paddock
  • Bar Manager NOT required to attend Committee meetings.
